Check the appliance and the door set
Find the fireplace manual and, where available, the door kit model. A later owner may have changed the doors while keeping the original fireplace. If the labels or hardware do not match the documents, keep the fire out until the combination and operating position have been confirmed.

For one WarmMajic II configuration, the manufacturer specifies fully open or fully closed doors and calls for its listed firescreen when operating with doors open. The RHW-44 also has restrictions concerning doors and screens. These are examples of why “leave the doors halfway” is not a safe general rule. Follow the instructions for the installed system.
Look for missing pieces before discussing use
A warped door, broken pane, missing screen or disconnected track belongs in the service request. Describe the condition with the fireplace cold and leave it unused. Do not build a small trial fire to compare settings or install an unverified screen as a substitute.
